Curriculum Enrichment

We place a strong emphasis on using our children's backgrounds, starting points, unique interests and needs to inform how we enrich the taught academic currculum. Curriculum enrichment at Ingleby Greenhow takes many forms, including our carefully curated curriculum strands (see curriculum overview), Forest School and outdoor learning, performance and creative arts, breakfast and after school clubs, trips, visits and involvement in local community and church events. Curriculum enrichment is an integral part of our educatonal philosophy, and we recognise that sometimes it's the things around the edges - either planned for or incidental - that can often make the difference to a child's engagement in life and learning at school. Examples of curriculum enrichment this academic year so far include weekly drama sessions to build confidence and self-esteem, developing a wildlife sanctuary area around our new school pond, learning how to look after our chickens and ducks, developoing our 'nurture room', a flower display in Kildale church based on our vision, hosting a local craft fair, 'adopt a teddy', family local history project, monthly Reading Cafes, free-drawing and free-writing.

Our monthly Reading Cafes are always well-attended and enjoyed by our families.
