Our Christian ethos
Our school aligns with the Church of England's Vision for Education, and our distinctively Christian ethos and school vision 'Learn from the way the wildflowers grow' (Matthew 6:28) helps to guide us in all the work we do. Like the thousands of species of wildflowers that flourish so abundently in our village hedgerows and the grounds of St Andrew's Church, we embrace differences and celebrate the preciousness of each person, treating each as a unique individual with inherent worth. Through deep and authentic relationships, our school aims to create opportunities to experience and celebrate life in all it's fullness.
St Andrew's Church

St Andrew's is a very special church which sits at the heart of our school community. We regularly take part in services here and treat it as a valuable resource to support our learning and inspire children in a sacred place. St Andrew's churchyard is home to hundreds of species of wildflowers and plants and we are exploring ways to incorporate these beautiful grounds into our outdoor learning. Rev Anne Heading is passionate about St Andrew's and the central role it plays in the life of our school; she frequently leads services and acts of worship for us here and has been known to baptise children's teddy bears!
Collective Worship
Collective worship is a special time in our school day which staff and children look forward to. Linked to our vision, worship begins with a child from each class bringing a wildflower to the bowl on our central table, which builds up as a flourishing bouquet over the term. Each class also brings a candle to the table to represent God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. A child begins our worship and introduces the value for the term. Children love taking an important role leading worship, and every week we hand worship over to our child 'Worship Leaders' who lead a full range of activities for their fellow pupils to work on in mixed-age groups, exploring values and biblical themes. Worship always includes a hymn, time for reflection and prayer. Often we say our school prayer.
